MEET
KYLE

Kyle Thompson is a native of Frankfort. He is a 1994 graduate of Franklin County High
School. Mr. Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the
University of Kentucky in 1998, with a minor in History. After his undergraduate studies, Kyle
graduated from Ohio Northern University College of Law in 2001 where he was honored as a
member of the Order of the Barristers and Top Oral Advocate, competing and winning a number
of Moot Court competitions. Mr. Thompson passed the Kentucky Bar Examination in 2001 and
has been practicing law in Frankfort for more than twenty-one (21) years. A former Assistant
Franklin County Attorney and General Counsel of a state agency, Mr. Thompson opened up his
own firm fifteen (15) years ago and focused his practice on domestic, criminal, insurance,
personal injury, and administrative law. Kyle Thompson is licensed and has practiced before the
Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the Sixth Circuit Court of
Appeals in Cincinnati. In 2010, Mr. Thompson was sworn into practice by Chief Justice John
Roberts before the United States Supreme Court.

In January, 2014, Kyle Thompson formed Capital
Court Authority, LLC as a private probation and drug testing company. The company has
expanded to five (5) and eighteen (18) employees over the last eight (8) years, servicing the
greater Central Kentucky area and monitoring thousands of individuals in multiple jurisdictions. In May, 2022, CCA was notified that it had become the largest private probation and judicial drug testing company in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Kyle Thompson was an adjunct professor of legal studies at Sullivan University in Lexington, Kentucky for ten (10) years. He has also been a member of the faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University in Louisville, Kentucky where he taught Business Law.

A former President of the Franklin County Bar Association, Mr. Thompson has been
actively involved in local charitable organizations and causes for many years. He has served as a
Board Member and Officer for P.U.S.H. Early Childhood Development Center and the SIMON
House. Having served on the Board for Downtown Frankfort Inc., Mr. Thompson has also
served as the chairperson for Avenues for Women crisis pregnancy center.


Kyle and his family actively attend The Point Community Church. He is married to
Jennifer Vest Thompson (Flatwoods, Kentucky). He has three (3) children: Emma Katherine
(20), Olivia Reagan (17), and Landon Cooper (11); and two step children: Kate (15) and Ryder (12).
